Bobby Clampett is an American professional golfer, golf commentator, and instructor known for his analytical approach to the game. Born in 1960, he had a standout amateur career, earning All-American honours at Brigham Young University and winning the 1978 and 1980 Porter Cup. He turned professional in 1980 and quickly made an impact, finishing as the 36-hole leader at the 1982 Open Championship before faltering on the weekend.
Though his PGA Tour career was relatively brief, Clampett became widely respected for his deep understanding of the golf swing, later developing the “Impact-Based” teaching philosophy. His insights as a longtime golf analyst for CBS Sports further cemented his reputation as a knowledgeable voice in the game.
