Wynn Golf Club In Las Vegas Reopens with $20,000 Spiff for Aces On Par Three #18

Tom Fazio fielded questions yesterday about the grand reopening of the Wynn Golf Club on the Strip in Las Vegas. It’s the only golf course in the trenches of Vegas action on Las Vegas Blvd. — the par 70 track sits in the shadows of the Wynn and Encore towers.

Then CEO Steve Wynn, closed the golf course two years ago to build a water park and more convention space. He’s no longer the CEO and that plan was axed. Additional convention space was erected and the golf course was completely recreated. All 18 greens and eight of the holes are 100-percent brand new. The 35-foot tall waterfall behind the 18th is still there, but that hole is now a par three — not a four. Inline with Wynn’s commitment to excess — the Wynn Golf Club was re-imagined and polished by Fazio and son Logan.

“We are so excited about the return of the Wynn Golf Club,” said Tom Fazio. “The quality of the Wynn golf experience matches the ultra-high level that everyone expects from a Wynn resort. The playability of the course is second to none and the challenge of play for all golfers is exceptional. We are so pleased with the end result that I believe the players of the Wynn Golf Club will place this course in the category of their favorite places to play, and will agree that the Wynn Golf Club is a fabulous environment to enjoy the game.”

A quality golf course A question digging for the cost of the renovation was shot down by Fazio and a Wynn executive on the call, but a bet of over $35.5 million is a safe play. It’s desert golf with Carolina feels. Many of the 100,000 shrubs and 7,000 mature trees date back to the 1950s when the land was home to the historic Desert Inn Golf Club.

Anyone willing to pony up the $300 to $550 green fee can play the course. A caddy, drinks, optional club rental and other perks are included in the fee. And in Vegas fashion, players making an ace on 18 from the tips playing 249 yards win $20,000. The golf course has a Wynn budget and Fazio design — this formula is the lock of the year for a quality experience.
