Imagine waking to the soft glow of Atlantic light spilling through your apartment window, the distant sound of waves rolling onto Polzeath Beach, and a day of golf unfolding beneath some of Cornwall’s most spectacular skies. At The Point at Polzeath, that rhythm quickly becomes part of everyday life.
Perched above Cornwall’s dramatic north coast, The Point offers a different kind of golf break. This is not a destination built around championship pedigrees or famous tournament history. Instead, it succeeds through atmosphere, comfort, and an effortless connection to its surroundings. It is the sort of place where golfers arrive for a short stay and find themselves wishing they had booked an extra night.
For travelling golfers exploring Cornwall, The Point delivers something increasingly valuable: a complete coastal escape where golf, accommodation, dining, leisure facilities, and breathtaking scenery blend seamlessly together.
From the moment you arrive, there is a noticeable change of pace. The Atlantic seems to dictate the rhythm of the day. Mornings begin beneath vast Cornish skies, afternoons are spent navigating strategic golf holes shaped by wind and elevation, and evenings often end on the terrace as the sun sinks slowly beyond the Camel Estuary.
The Point never shouts for attention. Its appeal reveals itself gradually, and that is precisely what makes it so memorable.
Contemporary Coastal Living
One of the immediate pleasures of staying at The Point is the quality of the accommodation. The apartments and holiday accommodation embrace a contemporary coastal style that feels perfectly suited to their surroundings. Large windows flood the interiors with natural light, while many enjoy sweeping views across the golf course towards the Atlantic horizon. There is an instant sense of calm upon entering.

The interiors are stylish yet relaxed, modern without feeling clinical. Open-plan living spaces make them ideal for couples, families, and golf groups alike. For golfers travelling together, the spacious lounges and fully equipped kitchens create the perfect setting to relive the day’s round over a meal or a glass of wine.

What struck me most was how easy it was to settle into the environment. After a day on the course, I found myself sitting outside as the evening light softened across the fairways, watching golfers play the closing holes while the Cornish breeze drifted inland. It is one of those simple travel moments that stays with you long after you leave.

Practical touches are equally important. There is ample space for golf equipment, comfortable bedrooms for longer stays, and easy access to every part of the resort. Breakfast, golf, leisure facilities and dining are all within a short walk, creating an effortless flow that perfectly suits a relaxing golf break.
Golf Above the Atlantic
Golf at The Point offers a refreshing alternative to many of Cornwall’s better-known links courses. While nearby St Enodoc and Trevose provide the region’s traditional links experiences, The Point delivers something different: strategic parkland-style golf played against a spectacular coastal backdrop. At just over 6,000 yards, the course will not overwhelm players with sheer length. Instead, it challenges through thoughtful design, positioning, and intelligent shot-making.
Standing on the opening holes, the fairways appear invitingly generous. It would be easy to assume the course is straightforward. Yet as the round develops, subtle complexities begin to emerge. Angles into greens matter. Position from the tee becomes increasingly important. The Atlantic wind, often arriving unexpectedly across the elevated terrain, can transform even the simplest shot into a thoughtful exercise in club selection.
What I enjoyed most was the balance. The course remains welcoming and playable while still asking enough questions to keep stronger golfers fully engaged. Several greens sit subtly within the landscape, protected by contours and carefully positioned bunkers rather than excessive hazards. Distance control becomes crucial, particularly when the breeze freshens during the afternoon.
The conditioning throughout the course is impressive. The greens roll consistently, fairways provide excellent lies, and the presentation reflects the wider quality of the resort. Yet it is the setting that continually steals your attention. Time and again, your eyes are drawn beyond the golf course towards the Camel Estuary, the Atlantic coastline, and the rolling countryside that makes this corner of Cornwall so captivating.
Four Holes That Capture The Point
The par-3 5th perfectly introduces the strategic character of the course. The hole appears inviting from the tee, but standing over the ball tells a different story. Wind often swirls subtly across the elevated terrain, making club selection far more difficult than the yardage suggests.
During my round, it was one of those holes where commitment proved more important than technique. Once doubt crept in, the challenge became significantly harder. It is a deceptively simple hole that rewards discipline and trust.

The par-3 7th is one of the most visually appealing and strategically engaging holes at The Point. Playing uphill over a traditional Cornish stone wall, the hole immediately captures your attention from the tee. The green sits invitingly against the landscape, yet the challenge becomes clearer the longer you study it.
A bunker guards the front-right approach, ready to gather any shot drifting off line, while a backdrop of mature trees waits beyond the green to catch those tempted to take an extra club. Coming up short offers little relief either, leaving a delicate uphill chip to a green that features a distinctive two-tier design.
The 14th – The Signature Moment

If one hole defines The Point, it is undoubtedly the outstanding par-4 14th. The tee shot demands commitment to a specific line. Out of bounds left and a ditch on the right means hitting the fairway is paramount. The approach requires both accuracy and careful judgement. There is nothing unfair about the challenge. The hole simply asks golfers to execute two quality golf shots.
Late in the afternoon, when long shadows stretch across the fairway, the 14th becomes one of those rare holes where you pause for a moment before reaching for your club.
The Closing Stretch

The final holes gradually guide you back towards the clubhouse and restaurant, where the social atmosphere begins to build. The 18th is a particularly satisfying finish. With diners and golfers watching from the terrace, there is just enough theatre to encourage one final focused swing.
The round concludes in a manner that perfectly reflects the wider experience: enjoyable, scenic, and quietly memorable. It is the kind of finish that naturally encourages you to stay for another drink rather than rushing away.
Beyond The Fairways
One of The Point’s greatest strengths is that golf forms only part of the experience. The resort’s leisure facilities create a genuine sense of escape, allowing visitors to balance golf with relaxation in a way that many traditional golf clubs simply cannot match.

The indoor swimming pool provides the perfect place to unwind after a round, while the modern gym and health club add to the resort atmosphere. Padel and Tennis courts are available. For golfers spending several days in Cornwall, these facilities become a significant part of the appeal.
The restaurant and bar overlook both the course and surrounding countryside, creating one of the resort’s most enjoyable gathering places.
Breakfast before golf feels relaxed and unhurried. Evenings take on a different atmosphere entirely as the setting sun illuminates the surrounding landscape and conversation drifts easily between golf, travel, and plans for the following day.
Exploring Cornwall’s North Coast
The Point’s location places visitors at the heart of one of Britain’s most beautiful coastal regions. Polzeath Beach is only minutes away, offering golden sands, excellent surfing, and spectacular coastal walks. The charming village of Rock provides outstanding restaurants and waterfront views across the estuary to Padstow, home to some of Cornwall’s most celebrated dining experiences.
Golfers can spend a morning on the course and an afternoon exploring fishing villages, cliff-top trails, hidden coves, and dramatic coastal scenery. For those planning a Cornwall golf itinerary, The Point also works brilliantly alongside nearby rounds at St Enodoc and Trevose, creating a varied and memorable golf tour of North Cornwall.

Final Thoughts
The Point at Polzeath occupies a unique place within Cornwall’s golf landscape. It may not possess the century-old traditions of some neighbouring clubs, but it offers something many modern travellers value even more: a complete and genuinely enjoyable experience.
Excellent golf. Stylish accommodation. Superb leisure facilities. Outstanding scenery. Most importantly, it offers a true sense of escape.
Long after the final putt has dropped and the clubs have been packed away, what remains is the feeling of Cornwall itself — Atlantic sunsets beyond the fairways, sea air drifting across the course, and the quiet satisfaction of discovering a golf destination that never tries too hard to impress, yet succeeds completely.
For golfers planning a Cornwall golf holiday, The Point at Polzeath is far more than simply a place to play. It is a place to stay, explore, unwind, and return to.
