America Golf Deals Monthly: October 2019

Golfers aren’t typically cheap (some are, but not most), but any green fee over $100 should be mega-classy. The greens should roll nicely, the bunkers are expected to be shaped and a nice mow pattern on the fairways is appreciated. Beauty is in the details and that’s where elite golf courses excel.

Now, imagine all this for a deal, and golfers love a deal. Here is a list quality golf courses in America for less than $50. If any of these tracks are nearby — make the drive. If you’re in the area — add to your schedule.

Jacksonville Beach Golf Club; Jacksonville Beach, Florida
Not far from the breaking waves on Jacksonville Beach — this track is well-conditioned with a lot of well-designed holes. After the round, settle the day’s wagers in their bar which is top-notch.

Brown County Golf Course; Hobart, Wisconsin (eight miles west of Green Bay)
“Perhaps the best public links value in the state. Built by Lawrence Packard in the 50’s, it is carved out of Wisconsin hundred year old Northwoods topography. Rolling terrain, creeks, ponds and tall timber places this course in a category with some of the best private clubs in the state,” says Bill Hayes; De Pere, Wisconsin

Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club; West End, North Carolina
This is a semiprivate golf course within a gated community about seven miles from the Village of Pinehurst. The greens were recently redone and a green fee on Friday afternoon is around $22 and Saturday morning is $45. It’s an area well-known for quality golf courses — here’s a quality one for a good value.

Deerwood Golf Course; North Tonawanda, New York
It’s 10:30 a.m. ET on October 2 and the current temperature is 63F/17C in North Tonawanda, New York, about 23 miles north of Buffalo. All of us at World’s Best Golf Destinations love municipal golf courses and Deerwood is a 27-hole muni.

Pilgram’s Run Golf Club; Pierson, Michigan
Here’s a deal with a bit of acclaim. This golf course once hosted a U.S. Open qualifier. In the words of regular patron Steve Seely, “It is a fantastic piece of land.”
