Looking for a luxury golf holiday in Italy? Nestled on a secluded coastal peninsula in southwest Tuscany, the Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort combines 5-star hospitality with world-class golf, spa indulgence, eco-conscious living, and breathtaking Mediterranean landscapes. Just 90 minutes from Rome Fiumicino Airport, this stunning retreat in the heart of the Maremma region offers a truly unique escape for discerning travellers and passionate golfers alike.
A Tuscan Welcome Like No Other
As you approach the Argentario Resort, you’re greeted not just by gates and grandeur, but by handcrafted wicker sculptures of local wildlife—wild boar, porcupines, and hares—that line the entrance. It’s an early sign that this isn’t your typical resort. Here, nature, design, and Italian hospitality live in perfect harmony.
Founded in the early 2000s by Roman entrepreneur Augusto Orsini, Argentario was born out of a personal love for this corner of Tuscany. Since opening its championship golf course in 2006, the resort has evolved into a complete wellness destination with a luxury hotel, world-class spa, and now a partnership with Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, expanding its global appeal.
Location: Explore the Beauty of the Maremma
Argentario is located in Monte Argentario, a dramatic headland surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea and linked to mainland Tuscany by three causeways. The Maremma region is renowned for its natural beauty, vineyards, medieval villages, and Etruscan heritage. It’s ideal for both romantic getaways and active family adventures.
Guests can easily visit the charming fishing towns of Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano, enjoy stunning sea views from the Convento dei Passionisti, or hop on a boat to explore nearby islands such as Giglio and Giannutri.
Eco-Conscious Luxury
Argentario is deeply committed to sustainability and eco-tourism. From solar panels and electric vehicles to organic, locally sourced food, the resort takes bold steps to minimise its environmental impact.
- Chemical-free golf course
- Energy-efficient lighting
- Chilli powder (not pesticides!) to protect greens from birds
- Zero-kilometre policy in restaurants, sourcing ingredients from the on-site gardens
Wildlife flourishes here, with frequent sightings of hares, storks, ibis, and water voles (nutria). Nature lovers will appreciate how seamlessly the resort coexists with its environment.
Stylish, Soundproof Accommodation
Our Luxurious Room
Every room and suite at Argentario blends modern Italian design with serene comfort. During our stay in the west wing, we experienced one of the quietest hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in—perfect for light sleepers. Blackout curtains, a private decking area with golf course views, and a large rainfall shower added to the luxury.
Expect:
- Spacious rooms and suites
- Soundproof design for undisturbed rest
- Plush beds and spa-like bathrooms
- Private terraces overlooking the golf course or countryside
Spa & Wellness: A Sanctuary for Mind and Body
The Indoor Pool
After a day on the course, retreat to the state-of-the-art spa for bespoke treatments. The wellness centre includes an indoor pool, fitness area, sauna, and a full menu of massages and facials.
We enjoyed a rejuvenating massage that eased away the tension of two rounds of golf—our first of the season. The attention to detail from the therapists was exceptional, leaving us feeling refreshed, relaxed, and ready for more.
Championship Golf with a Scenic Twist
The 18th Green
The 18-hole Argentario Golf Course is the only course in Italy to hold PGA National status. Designed for serious players, it combines technical difficulty with sweeping sea and mountain views. It will host the DP World Tour Event, The Italian Open between the 26th and 29th of June 2025 so you will get to see how the best professionals tackle the course on TV.
While the terrain is challenging, the layout is fair and fun—offering something for every level of golfer. No golf trip to Tuscany is complete without playing here. You can read our dedicated review of the course here.
