1997 is Knocking! Tiger Woods and Third Eye Blind Set to Headline Safeway Open in Napa, October 13-16

In 1997 Tiger Woods won the Masters by 12 shots, that same year Third Eye Blind released their self-titled debut album, which sold 6 million copies in the U.S. alone. 19 years later Woods and “3EB” are set to headline the Safeway Open at Napa Valley’s Silverado Resort and Spa. Woods is expected to tee it up Thursday, October 13 and Third Eye Blind will take the stage following play on Saturday, October 15. The Safeway Open is the first tournament on the 2016-2017 PGA Tour schedule. Golf fans around the world must be asking themselves, “How’s It Going to Be” and if Woods will bounce back after “Losing a Whole Year,” and a half of competition.

In 1997, Woods earned No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings, the Stephan Jenkins-led band from San Francisco won a Billboard Music Award for Best Modern Rock Track, “Semi-Charmed Life” that same year.

In statement released by Tiger Woods at tigerwoods.com, he said he also plans to play in the Turkish Airlines Open, November 3-6, in Antalya, Turkey; the Tiger Woods Foundation-run Hero World Challenge, December 1-4, at Albany in the Bahamas and he will participate in the Tiger Woods Invitational presented by USLI, October 10-11, on the Monterey Peninsula.

Fans at the Safeway Open are hoping Woods and Third Eye Blind will play like the old days. Perhaps realistic fans are hoping Woods will still be in Napa when Third Eye Blind takes the stage Saturday night.
