Tiger Woods’ Tech Golf League Adds a Sixth Team, the Jupiter Links Golf Club

Some may wonder, “What is the Tech Golf League?”

Owned by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and partners with the PGA Tour, at its essence, it’s competitive indoor simulator golf.

However, it’s a little more interesting than the setup in your friend’s garage—imagine a simulator except the screen is massive like a movie theater, players play from realistic surfaces such as real fairway grass, actual grass rough and sand, the ball travels around 30 yards and once on the green—players transition to an actual adjustable green. The Tech Golf League (TGL) is set to launch on January 7, 2025 on ESPN and has added a sixth team. Tiger Woods finally has a squad in the league he owns and joins Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner on the Jupiter Links Golf Club squad which is one of six team in the indoor golf simulator league. Other markets represented are Atlanta, Boston, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco and other popular Tour players include Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Colin Morikawa and among others, the league includes perhaps the best golf swing in the world—Australia’s Min Woo Lee. A few notables not participating are Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, and Viktor Hovland. Jon Rahm was in the league before defecting for the Liv Golf League which means anyone who withdraws from the TGL, might be headed for the Saudi league.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy team up to grow the game, but will it work?

“I have already shared my excitement and optimism for TGL as a league and product,” said Woods, who is part owner of Jupiter Links Golf Club and co-founder of TMRW Sports. “Now that we have finalized our roster with a team of world-class golfers, I am even more confident that this group will proudly represent the Jupiter area and connect with our fans for years to come.”

Events will be hosted at the newly built 250,000-square-foot SoFi Center, located in Palm Beach Gardens at Palm Beach State College. This project was delayed when the roof collapsed during a storm in November 2023, but the project has resumed.

This League combines modern technology with some of golf’s biggest stars, but it’s greatest strength might be the enormity and brilliance of the venue. A lot of people have golf simulators, but no one has anything like this that might be impressive enough to make it interesting. Topgolf shocked the world by creating an experience that draws golfers, and non-golfers in droves to a driving range. Perhaps this enhanced golf simulator is grandiose enough to garner interest from young, and old golfers, and most importantly, nongolfers.

Golf is the greatest compliment to any travel itinerary and while it’s a joy to visit Ireland, Thailand and Colombia—nothing improves an agenda more than a few tee times. Golf is the ultimate canvas for meeting locals, walking the terrain and earning the popular brew whether it’s Guinness, Singha or Club Colombia on the rocks with a splash of lime and salted rim. And if you’re looking for the ultimate, most interesting, nail-biting professional golf, then check the players on the Korn Ferry Tour hovering around the cutline on Friday afternoon. I’ve spent most of my life thinking about golf—the rest I’ve wasted. Elvis Anderson has served as the North America-based Editor of World’s Best Golf Destinations since 2016, has covered the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour and DP World Tour in North America, South America, Europe and Asia and has been fortunate to tee it up in 25 countries around the world.
