Week One Player’s Journal: The Web.com Tour Life of Trevor Cone

Come here each week for a quick look at the life of Web.com Tour Professional Trevor Cone. Come along as the 2018 Web.com Tour Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae winner roams the world in search of good doughnuts, Hokie football conversations and a PGA Tour Card.

Week One: The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic; Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Course, Bahamas

A little local knowledge from Golf Course Designer and Hall of Famer Greg Norman

WBGD: Highlight of the week?
Cone: Definitely playing the Pro-Am with the course designer and all time great, Greg Norman. Looking back, it’ll be a day I’ll never forget. Being able to pick his brain about certain things like course management and even his business acumen was great.

WBGD: You missed the cut this week, what did you do with the extra free time?
Cone: I didn’t do a lot with my extra free time. I got some practice in while the third round was going and then a few of us took a bonefishing charter, which was awesome even though I didn’t catch a single fish. Kind of summed up the week as a whole. haha

WBGD: Best meal?
Cone: A local place called Big D’s Conch Spot right up the road from my Airbnb. The conch fritters were unbelievable, I’d put the over/under at 55.5 conch fritters eaten for the week.

WBGD: This is your first trips to the Bahamas, overall thoughts on Great Exuma Island?
Cone: I’d just like to say how awesome, friendly, and accommodating everyone is in the Bahamas. You meet someone for the first time and they make you feel like you’ve been friends for years.

WBGD: The moment everyone’s been waiting for — please give us your doughnut report.
Cone: I actually couldn’t find any doughnuts in Exuma. It was quite the letdown, but hopefully I can find some in Abaco, otherwise I’m gonna start having withdrawals.
