No matter what anybody tells you, there are four ways to get a tee time at The Old Course St Andrews.
1) Private Advance Booking Process:
Old Course tee time(s) acquired directly by the golfer from the St Andrews Links Trust through their annual Advance Reservations program. The program accepts applications twice a year for tee times from private parties that require at least two (2) golfers but no more than eight (8) who wish to play the following season.
The first deadline is in early September for an application you are required to submit yourself that requests the dates you’d like to play the Old Course plus one additional Links Trust course of your choice. The second date is in early January when any unused or returned starting times are resold. If golfers are unsuccessful in this process they need to consider the other 3 options listed below.
2) Old Course Ballot:
Did you know that nearly half the total number of Old Course tee times come courtesy of the Ballot system each year.
Golfers need to enter the Ballot 48 hours before they wish to play and there must be a minimum of 2 golfers and a maximum of 4 golfers. The Ballot works well for any group that is based in St Andrews for the week.
3) Single Golfers:
Feeling lucky? This is a great option to get on the Old course if you don’t mind waiting and also if you don’t mind joining golfers that you don’t know. Simply check in at The Old Pavillion early in the morning and hope for some cancellation. Success rates are generally very good especially if you try a few days during your stay.
4) Guaranteed Premium Times:
If you don’t have flexibility in your traveling dates and don’t like uncertainty then this could be the option for you. Your best bet is to contact a Golf Tour operator and we strong;y recommend Premier Irish Golf Tours as there staff have unrivaled knowledge in relation to tee times at The Old Course St Andrews .
