Travel to the best golf destinations can get a little complicated. They sit in remote planes-trains-ferries-automobiles parts of the world. First is a flight, then another puddle-jumper, then a ferry and finally a shuttle or rickshaw. Experiences at places like this are typically worth the effort. Here’s how you get to the Tecina Golf Resort where Koepka won in 2013 on the Challenge Tour, the European Tour’s minor league.

Tecina will host the Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera from July 11-13, the exact place where Koepka claimed his third of four wins on the Challenge Tour. He cleared the field by 10 shots.
High- and low-season rates at the Donald Steel-designed course are 100€ and 61€ respectively. The cooling trade winds yield an average year-round temperatures of 23C/73F. After golf there’s 70 kilometers/43 miles of beaches and a wide range of cultural highlights and activities both on and off the water.

And if the Brooks Koepka history and golf doesn’t move the needle then visit La Gomera because it was Christopher Columbus’ last port of call before crossing the Atlantic in 1492.
