A golf course opening is a big deal when the governor of Baja California Sur (Carlos Mendoza Davis) and a member of The Eagles (Don Felder) show up. Those two along with resort developers Owen Perry and Luz Maria Torres, Rees Jones, the course architect and Rafael Pacchiano Alamán, Mexico’s Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources attended last Friday’s Danzante Bay Golf Club house-warming party on the Sea of Cortez.

“Danzante Bay Golf Club is the result of a special collaboration of creativity and vision,” said Jones. “We have been able to create a golf experience that allows you to see landscape and wildlife that you never would have seen before. It is like no other place. The land told us what to do, we walked the area and discovered where the holes should be situated on this diverse site,” he added.
Danzante Bay Golf Club debuted 11 holes late last year — the seven new holes – Nos. 2 through 8 – cover different terrains, including beach, cliff and canyon. They combine Jones’s creativity with the natural scenery provided by Mother Nature to charm golfers with views that spread out in virtually every direction.
