How To Cure Your Slice – Part Two

HOW TO CURE YOUR SLICE – PART TWO

slice 10

If you’re a golfer who hits that big banana slice then this 4 part series is really going to help you.

If you missed part one then click the link here to see the tip.

So just to clarify why we slice a golf ball, it is an OUT to IN swing path with the face open to that path. The move in the downswing is an over the top move which sees the club moving over plane out and away from the body, and that sets up an out-to-in swing (see photo above). Result: Slices or Pulls.

If you are a golfer who fights a slice you must learn the correct feeling of an IN to OUT swing path as this will change you ball flight into a nice little DRAW.

The “Right Foot Back” Drill

slice 20

This is a great drill to create the inside swing path to stop that slice.

  1. Set up with your right foot back and up on the toe, this gets the right side out of the way and also takes the right side out of the initial downswing.
  2. Make your normal full back swing with a great full 90 degree shoulder rotation.
  3. As you start the downswing, focusing on swinging your arms past your body through impact. The closed stance blocks your upper body from turning through, so the club drops onto an inside path to impact
  4. Feel and focus on swinging out towards 2 o’clock and with a soft rotation of the forearms and hands you should now be hitting the ball much straighter or even with a slight bit of DRAW!!
