#GolfVette Stop No. 9: Boulders Resort & Spa; Carefree, Arizona

An interesting aspect of the Little Red Corvette American Golf Road Trip is the changing vibe in the Pandemic. As the #GolfVette goes west — there’s less customer service and staff. Arizona’s lock-down more intense than Florida. Texas and Louisiana. However, Boulders is the busiest facility we’ve seen — the pool was packed and the tee sheet full — they just didn’t have much staff.

1. One thing we’ll remember about Boulders Resort & Spa in five years?
This is one of the better resorts in America — it has a certain vibe and feel that most do not. It’s cozy and comfortable. And like Disney, they have a cool logo and incorporate it into the resort’s design around every turn. Their casita guest rooms are also very cool. Perhaps what this resort does better than most resorts is that it creates an experience in tune with the local terrain and vibe.

2. Favorite hole?
This golf course is in very good condition and it’s a quality design. On the South Course, #7, a par four with the large “Rosie’s Rock”, named for the founder’s wife is a gem. There are massive saguaro cactus and a beautiful green.

3. Price?
Luxury resort

4. Potpourri?
They have 36 holes of golf — all are in good condition and make good use of the area’s massive boulders. Boulders is one of those places with good energy because everyone there is happy to be there. Evening beers on the patio overlooking the golf course never gets old — this place is fantastic.

5. Location?
Boulders Resort & Spa, 34631 North Tom Darlington Drive, Carefree, Arizona 85377; www.theboulders.com
