Golf Offers You the Best Four Hours of TV Drama Every Year Without Fail!

My first taste of TV golf was as a kid in 1975. I vividly remember Raymond Floyd with his two secret weapons. The first of these was a new-fangled thing called a five-wood, which was ideal for those long high balls needed to hold the notoriously tricky greens on the reachable par fives. The second weapon was a zebra putter, which he wielded that week as effectively as Harry Potter’s wand en route to a record-setting win at the Masters.

Is there anything even nearly as good on TV as the back nine of the Masters on Sunday? I think not.

Jack Nicklaus in 1986 when the roars on the 16th were heard in Atlanta.

Sandy Lyle’s amazing bunker shot birdie on 18.

Norman’s epic collapse followed by Faldo’s words of comfort on 18.

Tiger’s impossible chip-in on the 16th, back when he was young and could do no wrong.

Bubba’s remarkable wedge shot from the depth of the woods on the 10th in the play-off.

What’s your favorite Masters’ moment?

I bet you are smiling already.

Why is the Masters so special?
We know every hole. We know the commentators. And we know the network. We also know there will be limited commercial interruptions and then only from four companies. We know the lead will change every few minutes until the champion eventually prevails.
