Not practice, Toblerone or Godiva — it’s Kit Kats that the ladies from Cranleigh Golf & Country Club outside of London rely on for success. After five tournament rounds; Kim South, Wendy Wooldridge, Jenny Kerley, Kim Rogers, Carrie Ferrier, Bridget Howland, Heather Kitson and Captain Mo Palmer have qualified for the November 20-24 finals of the Annodata UK Golf Club Classic at Barceló Montecastillo Golf & Sports Resort in Cádiz, Spain.
Imagine the flight to Spain and the ladies from Cranleigh singing away, “Gimme a break, Gimme a break, Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat Bar!” Surely the suits at Nestlé are working on a massive endorsement deal — this will be like Nike and Tiger in 1996.
The Cranleigh ladies, a squad of seven, with handicaps ranging from 10 to 18, chewed up the opposition with victories over Cottesmore, Farnham, Hendon, Newbury & Crookham and the quarter-final success over Canterbury in the popular team matchplay competition.
“We certainly didn’t expect to get this far as we had never got this far in the competition before. We’ve had amazing support from the club’s management throughout the campaign and club professional Karl Morgan, who has been offering free lessons to get us match sharp. But we’ve also had our magic Kit Kats to help us on our way. Before they went out for the first match, I gave them all a Kit Kat. So once we got through that one, it has become a superstition for every match and it seems to have worked. I’ve now got to take a whole load of Kit Kats with me to Spain. Hopefully, they will be our secret weapon again,” says Palmer.
Good news for Palmer, World’s Best Golf Destinations is confirming that Kit Kat bars are available in Spain. Visit World’s Best Golf Destinations on November 26 for results from finals of the Annodata UK Golf Club Classic — the world of golf waits.
