Left Handed Golfer Playing Right Handed: Best Switch Hitting Golfers

Switch-hitting is common in baseball – rare in golf. A teammate of Tiger Woods at Stanford and NBC analyst Notah Begay was a switch putter. He hit right-to-left breaking putts right-handed and he hit left-to-right breakers left-handed. More common are left handed golfer playing right handed.

The list of left handed golfer playing right handed

Here are  some of them;

  • Jordan Spieth

  • Johnny Miller
  • Nick Price
  • Greg Norman

Why?

The Shark is a left handed golfer playing right handed

The Shark is a leftie

It’s a simple answer, more right-handed golf clubs are made. Perhaps there’s also an advantage. A leftie playing right handed with a stronger left latissimus dorsi, stronger left forearm, and stronger left shoulder may be more powerful. Case in point is right-handed Phil Mickelson, who plays left-handed. Perhaps “Leftie” gets more distance from his strong right side.

Remember Jordan Spieth’s made bunker shot to win Travelers Championship in a playoff over Daniel Berger? Look at his celebration and notice how he throws his wedge before the chest bump with his caddy Michael Greller. It’s a left-handed celebratory club throw.

Here’s an idea – if things aren’t going well then switch sides.
